Songs Produced by Yours Truly

For the record, I've created around 300 songs. Below are the ones that reflect my skills the most accurately for where I am now. And when I say I've made 300 songs, some are finished, some are not finished, some are shit, a lot are shit, but a small few (maybe 20-30) are what I would consider worthwhile for the public to hear. Here are the top 5 that best represent me now.

Infidelity

Infidelity was the second last track I produced before attending RMIT. Inspired by Fleetwood Mac, the song has a blues rock style with lyrics about a relationship breakdown. Drum programming was inspired by the playing style of Wanda Dohl of Violet. I wanted it to resemble her playing in the way it would feel like it was punching through your whole body. Featured here is the original demo I made in 2023 as well as the further demo I made in 2024.

Astrology Signs

To get into Queenscliff Music Festival's Foot In The Door competition you had to send a realistic demo for the organisers to listen to. In hearing that requirement in 2023, I got to work with the band to choose which of the 4 songs we had at the time to record. Astrology Signs was obviously the winner. I'm very pleased with how it came together as we had probably 2-3 days to record after school. The whole song probably only took a total of 6-7 hours to record split between those days. Though I probably spent as much time mixing as I did recording or even more. Originally I mixed it and it was not good enough, so I passed it onto Noah Thieme. He did a much better job but I later revisited the track months later and with his permission, changed the mix. The last mix is what you hear now.

Drysdale

This instrumental kicks ass. Let's be honest here. Isn't it a shame I haven't finished writing lyrics that I am happy to record? This song was recorded on Garageband and was the last song I recorded before heading to RMIT. As my computer was as weak as a 90 year old, I could only have around 10-13 tracks before my computer would stop playback because of it being overwhelmed. Though in saying that, I am very proud of how full it sounds despite the lack of tracks. There has to be around 5 tracks of the rhythm guitar part all recorded with different tones. (4 electric guitar tracks and one chorused acoustic guitar tucked away). The programmed drum track was inspired by the playing style of Connor Pawsey from Left At The Avenue. Funnily enough, the whole song's sound is influenced by Left At The Avenue. Unlike 'Infidelity', I did actually perform the bass line on this song. All parts were written, programmed, recorded and mixed by me.

What Lies Beneath (Lies Deep) DEMO

This is the latest song I have finished writing as of the 25th September. It took a little over a year to complete. I probably wrote the guitar intro in early 2023, starting the songwriting process. The chorus used to have the chord progression of the 7/4 bridge but it just didn't work so I created a new chorus in early 2024. The lyrics came in bits and pieces throughout the year but were only finished in August 2024 after being inspired to finish the song in the wake of seeing Chloe Booth's band perform and blow my mind. I love this song. It's devastating. It's relatable. And it's 7 and a half minutes long. I'm very proud of it and can't wait to see it recorded properly in the future! (The recording here is a live voice memo).

Roll Call

I'm ashamed to say I had a hip/hop producing phase in 2022-2023. Aka High-School. This was my favourite production of that era. There is no vocal performance on this song but I did finish writing lyrics for this song and I actually respect them, I just can't convince myself to attempt rapping and have my friends hear it. This song was produced on Soundtrap. Despite the DAW's limitations I must say it was phenomenal for the creative process of making beats and programming instruments. I got really good at making songs on that DAW at the time. I am very proud of my layering of parts towards the end of the song (3:16 onwards).

If for whatever reason you like this, then I would recommend you visit my old Soundcloud account called 'Tommy's Freshly Squeezed Beats' were a whole lot more tracks lie.
